Where are the 'well being' governments. Totally agree with this thanks Gary. Please keep making a noise. Start with preventative and primary health.

"..reasoning correctly that healthy people are an asset for a nation. Whether for pragmatic or compassionate reasons, supporting a healthy populace is a win-win."

It's very telling on our/any Government and Health Service that this sort of 'no-brainer', common sense and science backed approach is not accepted and supported for our people.

Well done Gary - keep up your good work in alerting ordinary Kiwis to the dangers surrounding us! And the “shoot to kill” actions of the present government! We need to demand action - the Hikoi was an example of what we can do when roused…..

Hi Gary,

It's always encouraging to find a health professional who is still sane regarding Covid. I am part of the coordinating committee of Aotearoa Covid Action, a grassroots citizen org that is mounting a campaign around clean air in schools at the start of next school year. We are working on an open letter and would love to run it by you and hopefully include your signature. We are findable on Facebook, BlueSky and X. Website: https://covidaction.nz/en/

😱 Wash your mouth out! Fancy advocating that a healthy population is good for both people & "the economy" (whatever that is these days?) 🤷

Obviously the circumstances of the story don't make it clear exactly WHY sufficient care seemingly wasn't provided in this instance, but anyone who has worked in ANY busy situation - office, retail, emergency management, health etc. knows that when you are short staffed or temporarily over-run with customers on the phone or e-mail, in the premises & on the phone, multiple or complex incidents - it is really hard to give everything your needed attention & strictly follow procedures/rules/guidelines put in place to prevent mistakes. But experienced people often do things automatically as it is ingrained, but inexperienced or lesser trained people don't have that ingrained routine to get them through pressure points. Difference is that it is rarely life or death in the office/retail setting 😥

Your points are well made & backed up with medical knowledge that is useful to remember for ourselves & whanau if we find ourselves navigating health challenges that seem puzzling or not being taken seriously. 🤢
