NZ Public Healthcare: 'destabilise and privatise'
They will keep doing this, if we keep allowing them to get away with it.
[This a video from my talk a couple of days ago. I expected 20 people to show up to the Cafler room in Forum North, but we filled it up. Standing room only. Great talks by nurses and doctors who see where we’re headed under these privatisation policies. ]

New Zealand is facing an unprecedented erosion of our public healthcare under a rightwing government. They're burning essential public services down as fast as the public let's them get away with. Primary care and hospitals are underfunded and understaffed, in 2024 facing savage staff and funding cuts to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations. And in 2025, the vandalism has extended to massive healthcare privatisation. [We know how this story ends, from the obscene and publicly disastrous (but privately immensely profitable) UK, AUS, and US experiences with for-profit and private-equity owned healthcare. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05-28/call-the-medics-how-healthscope-ended-up-in-hospital/105345014 and @DGlaucomflecken ] Enough is enough say patients, whanau, and healthcare workers in New Zealand. Thank you for sharing your heart with us Gary. Your passion for your work colleagues and your patients is obvious. You and other health workers are supported by a lot of New Zealanders who feel helpless to change things right now. Protesting the Government decisions and spreading the impact of bad decisions by Brown to as many as we can will help inform people. Our feet walking to the polling stations and voting will bring about a change of Government.
Brilliant commentary stating the facts of how the health system has been eroded financially by the Coalition Government and their intentions to privatise health.
Simeon Brown and other MPs should feel shame and hang their heads for what has happened to our health system m.
🫂 I've seen you being interviewed and making most of these points at other times, but when you string them all together like this it is even more outrageous to realise how OUR taxpayer $$ are being misused instead of being put into vital services needing funding - in this case literally life v death, and quality of life v unable to return to work. 👍 Keep up the good work - you are NOT alone as you are finding out, and you have a gift for explaining things that many of us struggle with 👏♥️
