Nurse Odie's right: Support our Nurses in their strike!
Govt removed all the "safe staffing" language from their contract proprosal. of course they did.
The least govt could do would be to pay lip service to “safe staffing'“ levels in hospitals. Words are cheap and it costs nothing to leave that language in there. But no, without discussion, nurses tell us that Health NZ deleted the bits about “safe staffing” from the nurses current contract proposal. That’s dreadful.
When someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time. Government has shown you who they are. Again and again.
And the best the newspapers and editorials can do is keep saying that our top leaders are “clueless”.
No. They’re not clueless, they’re getting a job done. A ramraid on the NZ people. But they’re executing it swiftly, under urgency, and in our faces.
The response from decent people is horror and a feeling of “but what can I do about it?” Which I have to say I understand. When we’re talking about giving 2.9 billion to landlords, or 350 million to privatise our public healthcare system, what can one blog do, or one vote?
On the other hand, all of our voices, and all of our votes, and all of our dollars are unstoppable.
So listen up to Odie. She’s a nurse colleague I’ve worked with for over a decade. She provides excellent care for patients and always has. Year after year. With dedication. And she knows what she’s talking about when she tells us about patient beds in converted cupboards and contract negotiations that are less than the cost of inflation.
Govt is moving us, as a nation, backwards.
Spread this video clip far and wide. It’s pot-banging time.
We can’t let Simeon Brown keep chopping up and selling out our public services for profit.
Back the Nurses in their upcoming strike.

Thank you Gary for your continued highlighting of this barbaric governments attacks on our Public Health System. Kia Kaha to our most excellent Nurses - I know only too well how caring and wonderful they are.
💪💗💗💗 I was all ready to turn up & support the last medical strike but a weather bomb made it unsafe & it was cancelled (at least medical professionals still CARE about us being SAFE ⁉️) 🤞🤞🤞 For this event & public turning out in support 👍💪
