We live in a time when Health NZ is
‘pausing’ a program (CCDM) that compares actual nurse staffing levels with actual patient numbers to show which units are safe or unsafe, comes this campaign by NZNO to hire nurses (and midwives and health care assistants, and health workers).
Offering a pay negotiation that is negative (about 1.2% less than the cost of inflation) and
Gaslighting people into thinking nurse staffing is “overstaffed”, or understaffed in ‘only a few areas’.
They all know it’s not safe to be chronically understaffed. Patients get forgotten about, antibiotics delivered late, and care suffers.
